Assorted impressions before the Chikushi party !!

One week after our little adventure at the toy store we were invited ,through a random encounter after japanese class, to a cultural party in the campus we have our class in, Chikushi campus. It was a memorable Friday, our class-free weekday. We explored the local Oktoberfest and had a great time at one of Fukuoka's biggest malls, Canal City, before we headed at full speed on our bikes to the Chikushi party.

Sadly, we were too early to the Octoberfest and had to wait for two hours, thats when we went to Canal City. On our way there we encounter two deeply rooted japanese traditions, arquitectural disarray and the poor use of english language in public spaces, I mean, who names an enormous office building like that???

This is the inner courtyard of canal city

This guy was decorating the place along other similar statues, he reminded me of something I did as a kid with a bucket full of water...

Ahh, Takoyaki. A wonderfull dish that warmed our weary adventurous stomachs! Delicious octopus doughballs!!

There was a Pokemon center in the basement of Canal City, and Thomas was eager to recharge his poke-powers !

And time passed, we enjoyed its wanderings, and decided to check how the japanese cope with Octoberfest induced beer-frenzy!!

pretty well it seems, quite level headed these folks.

And so we mounted our steel frames with wheels, and hit the pedals like hell for 45 minutes, thus propelling our minds and bodies to CHikushi Campus! We were welcomed by an enormous buffet, a crowd of exchange students and locals alike and a taiko performance!!
These musicians really knew their craft, they performed with soul and body, all in all an impressive experience.
